I’ve got a book signing at Barnes and Noble!

It’s been a minute, and in that time, I’ve completely forgotten to post anything about what’s been happening in my life. The most important is that my health is better. I had an incredibly rough March and April, and it turned out to be due to an allergic reaction to Naproxen. Go figure. Anyway, I basically couldn’t eat anything but warm Ramen noodles and ice cream and only had enough energy to work. I ended up losing 15 pounds and was pretty exhausted from it all, but thankfully, that’s all behind me now. The glorious life of an author. Sigh.

On a much more pleasant note, I also had a book launch, and the reception to Bonds of Truths was exactly what I was hoping. I am so proud of that book in that I took all the questions and weaknesses of A Necessary Heresy and turned them into strengths… at least in my opinion.

Also, my local Barnes and Noble in Hickory, NC was kind enough to stock my books on consignment. This started back in November 2022, and the books sold so well that they gave me my own shelf and a table. All the books are signed, and since January in that one store, I’ve basically outsold everyone in adult fantasy except George Martin, Sarah Maas, Brandon Sanderson, and a couple of other authors. For a little indie like me, that is beyond huge. It’s unbelievable if bewildering, and I’m absolutely overjoyed. I even got to do a book signing on April 1st, which went spectacularly well since a bunch of people actually showed up. I was honestly worried no one would.

Here are some pics from the event. Yeah, I know. It’s not like I had lines out the door, but the fact that I had a line (at times) was still pretty awesome!

And that book signing has led to another, this one is at the Arboretum Barnes and Noble in Charlotte. It’s on Saturday, May 13th between 1-3 PM, so if you’re in the area, please stop by. Oh, yes, Here’s the address:

Barnes & Noble at the Arboretum
3327 Pineville-Matthews Road
Charlotte, NC 28226

    Hi, there!

I’m glad to hear that your health is much improved. I just wanted to tell you how much I’ve enjoyed your Instruments of Omen books. I love epic tales, and your series did not disappoint. I read them back to back, and am looking forward to book 5…..hopefully in the not so distant future. I wish you continued good health and productivity!

      Hi Jean,

Having normal health is so under-rated. We never appreciate it until we don’t have it, and my issue wasn’t even that big a deal in the grand scheme of things. It was a month of weakness, lethargy, and inability to eat, but all that’s back to normal now.
Book 5 needs to percolate, and my brain needs a rest, but once ready, it’ll be fun to get back to Cinder and Anya.
