Happy New Year 2022!
Happy New Year everyone!
This has definitely been a rough year, but it’s in the rearview mirror now, and hopefully 2022 will be a much better one. However, in doing a retrospective on 2021, there were some highlights, for which I am grateful.
It begins with Memories of Prophecies, which was received so well. My day job is certainly fulfilling, but it has been very stressful over the past 2 years. As a result, writing has become my retreat and knowing that I helped anyone get through this crisis in any small way is both unexpected and humbling. In addition, because Instrument of Omens as a whole has done so well, my entire back list has also increased in terms of sales.
This gives me options that I never expected to have when I started out my writing career back in January 2014. I’m not sure what this means on a long-term perspective, but having options is always a good thing.
And returning back to Instrument of Omens, I have good news. Book 3, A Necessary Heresy, releases on January 7!
That’s not too far away, and while this was the most challenging book I’ve ever written, I’m also very proud of how it turned out. I’m also just plain excited to see the book enter the world. Here is the preorder link, which should automatically take you to the Amazon of your country: https://readerlinks.com/l/2240689
As far as the audiobook for A Necessary Heresy is concerned, it will be narrated by Nick Podehl, which is awesome. The release date should be in the summer. Sigh. I know. Another long wait, but I think it’ll be worth it.

Thank you, I first read the cast’s and the outcasts years ago but have immensely liked Instrument of Omens (and consider it your best work so far). I’ve been looking forward to this one for a while.
Glad you stuck with me after Castes, and I also think Instrument of Omens is my best work, so no worries there, lol.

Dear Davis,
Happy new year to you. Am very happy to hear about the release of book 3. The first two books were the first time I came across your work and both were great reads. I was wondering if you had any plans for any new series in a different or same world in future?
Best wishes,
Kay
Hi Kay,
Happy New Year to you, as well. I have lots of plans. There is a series that connects Castes and the OutCastes to William Wilde. That one would explain why Rukh and Jessira left their world to come to Earth. Weird, I know, but blame Jessira. She insisted on it. Then there would be a series that would be set in Earth’s past, and how Rukh and Jessira became known as Shokan and Sira, and their first war with Shet. There are others beyond that, too.

Was extremely excited to hear this is finally getting released! These books and all your others have hooked me and this third installment for Cinder and Anya has been highly anticipated! I see that this is being released for kindle on January 7th, but I was wondering, when is hard copy going to be released?
Thanks for all your great work and getting it out there to your fans so quickly.
Anticipation can be so delicious. I still feel that way for so many books.
I’m hoping to have the trade paperback for A Necessary Heresy ready later this month. I’m also hoping to hardcover versions of all three books ready at around the same time as well.

I’m super excited to read book 3. And I know you mentioned the audiobook but do you know when a physical release of the book will be?
Hi Justin,
I am still working on the print version, but I should have the paperback ready within the next several weeks. I’m waiting on my author proofs, and after that, things should be fine.

Sweet! Definitely looking forward to that!!
Awesome series.. really enjoying the story and journey..
Just finished book 3.. cant wait for the next ones. How many are you planning on doing for this series?
So happy to hear people are enjoying the story. It was a difficult one to write. As for the series itself, the plan was always that it would be either 6 or 7 books, so we have a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 4 more.

Finished book 3, it was another great add to the series. What can we expect next? Any timelines for the 4th book? I know, I know, you just published book 3 but…. 🙂
Hi Matt,
That’s a great question. I don’t have a firm timeline at all for book 4. Book 3 took a lot out of me emotionally, and I’m hoping to take a bit of a break before tackling what’s really the pivotal part of the series.

Just finished Necessary Heresy last night….good but obviously a cliffhanger (Rabisu, Shet, the orbs, Cinder and Anya, etc.). Looking forward to book 4 and will buy book 3 again when it releases on Audible…mainly listen to stories now but loving this storyline is the reason I bought a new kindle. :-). Keep up the good work Mr. Ashura!
So glad (and relieved) that you liked it. And yes, there is a cliffhanger, but thankfully much of it will be resolved in book 4. There’s a lot that went into that decision, and it wasn’t made lightly or easily. Also, buying it in two places (Kindle and as an audiobook) is incredibly generous. Thank you for that! And I’ll definitely keep on writing!

By the way I bought my brother Castes and the Outcastes and William Wilde series for his bday. He loved them so much I got him Instruments of Omens books 1 and 2 for Christmas, which of course he flew through….and then he got Necessary Heresy (physical book) on his own and is already halfway through it…:-).
Thank you, thank you, thank you for boosting the signal! That’s really the best way for books to get discovered. And I’m so glad your brother is enjoying the books so far. Happy reading to both of you!
