Testament of Steel’s release date!

by Apr 30, 2020Wonderings26 comments

I didn’t have much to say last month, so no newsletter went out. Plus, with the pandemic situation, I just didn’t have the desire or time to create a newsletter. This month is different. My job is straightening up. Things aren’t so up in the air and crazy, so here we go.

First things first. I have a release date for A Testament of Steel. It’s July 20th.

Preorders are already available on Amazon. Just click this link. I’ve said it before, but this book was my love letter to the works of Robert Jordan. I’ve always wanted to write a big fat fantasy (BFF for short—an old 90s terms) in the vein of Wheel of Time. A Testament of Steel is the beginning of my BFF.

The series is about a young man, Cinder Shade. A man with no memory of his past, and about whom little is expected. He’s weak. Broken-bodied. But will and determination can overcome many obstacles. He earns a place at a prestigious elven warrior academy and has the strange ability to speak the language of steel and swords.

His hard-earned skills are put to the test when strange rumblings emanate from deep in the Dagger Mountains. Monsters out of myth emerge. And so does something far worse . . .An ancient god. The world believes this deity long dead, but he is very much alive. And he remembers his enemies all too well. Even if they don’t remember themselves.

          Hi Jack,

Book 2 is done, and it’s with the alpha readers. It should be ready for preorder in March with a March release as well.

Thank you for responding, Alphonso! And I’m glad it reminds you of the Wheel of Time since the book/series is a love letter to WoT and LotR. Also, I’m sorry about the delayed reply. I could have sword I did, but I must have overlooked this.

Loved it. I see the WOT influence. There are also similarities to Rothfuss works as well. Look forward to the next book.

Thanks, Phil! Glad you liked it. Similar to Rothfuss is a great compliment. I just need to get my books out a little quicker than him.

Just read it. After Wot, I am waiting for a new series to binge read. And this could be it! I hope it will be 14 books all in all. Looking forward to 2021!

Jordan’s legacy is without peer, at least in my estimation, and following on from him is some immense shoes to fill. Hopefully, I hope I can fill them, although, 14 books might be more than I can manage. Would 7 do? Along with 3 featuring the same main characters from Testament of Steel in a different series (The Castes and the OutCastes)? And 5 where those same two characters play a strong role in a third series (the Chronicles of William Wilde)?

I just finished “A Testament of Steel” and was almost distraught that the next book wasn’t available! So many questions about whats next!
It was a fantastic book, very well written with an intriguing storyine the whole way through.
      Eagerly anticipating the next release!

Thank you for reaching out to me, and don’t be distraught. I’m working on book 2, and hopefully, it’ll be out in the first quarter of 2021. In the meantime, if you want to read more about Cinder and Anya, they show up in my William Wilde series, starting in book 3. Warning: you would also then learn exactly who they really are.

I just got this book finished. A facinating novel.

I must say i was a bit surprised not to see a certain early on antagonist return by the novels end. But intuition leads me to believe that will be addressed on book 2.

As a writer myself working on my first series now, I have a plethora of questions I’d love to be able to run by you regarding this story.

      Hi Jesse,

I’m glad you enjoyed the book, and another writer finding it fascinating is a pretty cool measure that I got some things right. The antagonist in question . . . I think I know who you mean, and that antagonist’s part in the plot isn’t complete. And if you have questions, fire away. I’d be happy to answer.

It’s very true Jordan’s WoT may forever stand alone in the heavens; yet I feel your a rocket ship heading straight up! WoT sorta broke reading for me haven’t really been able to pick up a fantasy book for ages. Yours I could not put down and I’m chomping at the bits for the next book. Thank you!

That is so amazingly kind of you to say. Thank you! However, I’m nowhere near the greatness of Jordan or Tolkien, but I always figured if I’m going to write a big, bold epic fantasy, why not try to meet the standards set by those two?

Happened to stumble upon A Testament of Steel on audible and good not stop listening. Finished listening to it within a few days. Can’t wait for the second book!

      Hi Denis,

It’s a twenty hour book, so finishing it in a few days means you must have been listening to it for 8 hours at a stretch . . . which is awesome. I love those kind of books, and it’s amazing to know people find that same magic in mine.

      Hi Bob,

Thank you for giving my books a go, and just as importantly, I’m glad you loved it! You’re posting about A Testament of Steel, which is book 1 in the series. Good news is that book 2 is already out. Brand new and shiny. It’s titled Memories of Prophecies. Here’s the link: https://www.amazon.com/Memories-Prophecies-Anchored-Worlds-Instrument-ebook/dp/B08XMRLQ12.

Now if you were actually asking book 3, the answer is that I’m hoping to have it out by late this year or early next.
