Book 3 – Where it stands

by Feb 24, 2016Wonderings7 comments

I just finished what I hope is the penultimate revision of book 3. The title is still A Warrior’s Penance, unless I think of something better. Titles aren’t my strong suit. Anyway, the book is about the same length as the second book-roughly 180,000 words. Right now, it’s in the hands of the beta readers. After their input, I’ll revise one last time, then it’s off to the proofreader. I’ve already started the process on commissioning cover art, so if all goes well (please let it go well), the book should be out the door by mid-April. There will also be a boxed set with all three books.

    You go Davis,
I can’t wait for it to come out. I would like to get a boxed set and I would really appreciate it if I could get you to sign them for me. I’ll drive up to Kickory from Asheville and take you out to lunch. I’ll be able to say I red them when you were still a physician. Way to go sir. If it is as good as the first two, you will be making history with one of the most awesome stories written in this Decade.

Sounds like a great idea, Kevin. Especially after I get over the flu.

Looking forward to the third! I just discovered the series this week and I’m glad I do not have to wait long for the finish. Wonderful reads, I love Aia.

Thanks for the kind words Danielle. I’m glad you’re enjoying them. And you’re not alone in loving Aia. She’s one of my favorite characters, too.

Fantastic series thus far Davis. The fantasy genre is demanding. It’s very rare for someone to be able to develop a tangible world for readers to escape to. You not only accomplished that but the depth of your character development is staggering. Every individual introduced is one that we get to know well. I am a fan and will eagerly await anything with your name on it.

How does one become a beta reader? I have health issues that have me homebound for an undetermined time. I am
Searching for ways to make this time productive and to retain my sanity. Beta reading sounds like an enticing prospect.

      Hi Eric,

I’m so thankful that readers are responding to the characters. It’s a real struggle to give them their own quirks, traits and have them grow. I’m also going to have a longer answer in an actual post that I’ll put up later today (off to church for Palm Sunday) about how the plot evolved from what I intended to be simple and straightforward into the complex, convoluted story that I ended up with.
